I am a "naturally taught" (that's a posh way of saying I've learnt photography myself with blood, sweat and tears and not via academia!) photographer with some 20 years experience operating in-and-around the Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Staffordshire counties of the UK. I use film exclusively (though between 2006 and 2009 I shot some digital for a while) and love it for my craft - in my opinion there is no substitute for the effects of carefully chosen, carefully shot and carefully developed film. If you want a photographer who shoots 1000 average photos an hour and spends days making your teeth whiter and boosting poor quality images with Photoshop, then I am not the photographer for you! I take a small and professional number of quality natural images using some of the finest optical lenses (Carl Zeiss) and carefully selected films. I can and do have the film scanned digitally too, to get the best of both worlds. In 2009 I became a World Wildlife Fund published photographer with the publication of my 'Holly Blue' butterfly photo in the 2010 and 2011 'World Wildlife Fund' butterfly calendars I am not a studio photographer. I capture more natural, unstaged "lifestyle" shots out in the great outdoors or in more comfortable indoor locations. I prediminantly use professional Fuji film with a Nikon F5 and\or a Hasselblad 501CM with Carl Zeiss lenses - the undisputed finest optics in the world. My favourite films are Fuji Pro 400H, Fujichrome Provia 100F\400X chrome slides and for Black and White - Fuji Acros 100 and Neopan 400NC.I write an informal online blog wherein some of my favourite landscape locations are documented, along with a variety of write-ups relating to recent shoots or activities or the photographic world generally. |
